The case against extensions

Screenshot extensions are fine until they aren't. They only exist on the one desktop browser you installed them in. Most ask for the broadest permission a browser offers — "read and change all your data on all websites". More than one popular screenshot extension has been quietly sold and re-shipped with tracking or adware. And on the machines where you most often need a capture — a locked-down work laptop, a school computer, your phone — you can't install them at all.

A cloud capture inverts all of that: the browser doing the screenshot runs on our servers, so your device installs nothing, grants nothing, and can be anything with a web browser.
